(Barley is considered Aviv when it can be presented as flour either by grinding or first parching in fire - Leviticus 2:14) | ||||||||
With no reports of Aviv barley found within the Fertile Crescent region (where barley is indigenous), this new moon will be the thirteenth month of the year. There have been some reports of groups declaring a new year based on barley being found "in the ear"; however, barley is not presentable as an offering simply because it has developed "ears". Barley must also survive when parched in a fire in order to be presented as grounded flour (Leviticus 2:14). The most-matured barley that has been found "in the ear" remains in the milky white stage that is made of mostly water when squeezed (which would disintegrate in a fire) and, therefore, not considered matured (or Aviv). This places the Passover season into the next month (sources reporting: Karaite Korner, Abib of God). |
The thirteenth new moon crescent was not reported on March 1st, which was a possibility in the far west region. First reports did not come until the following day, March 2nd, from India (and points westward) making this the first day of the month for Global Observation. However, for those east of India or for those that strictly follow an Israel-based observation calendar, the month will begin on Monday, March 3rd. Israel-based reports indicated fog with no visibility making March 3rd the first day, by default, for those followers.

Aviv barley should be fully ripened for the next new moon, expected in (or just west of) Israel on Monday evening, March 31st along with all points westward. Israel-based observers may require conditions to be perfect, but there is a possibility the month will be delayed (along with regions east of Israel) until the next evening, April 1st.

Expected Observation Dates of Biblical Festivals 2014:
|
For 2014, the Aviv barley searches in the Fertile Crescent prior to the new moon on March 2nd reported no confirmed sightings. This places the first day of the Aviv New Moon in late March (which is expected on the evening of March 31st starting in Israel). Therefore, the expected Annual Festival Dates will be as follows (all days begin at sundown the evening before date posted):
It would then be assumed that the Seventh New Moon of 2014 will first be seen in Australia on Thursday evening, September 25th, marking the arrival of the Fall Festivals on the following dates for all locations worldwide excluding Israel which is expected to have a one-day delay for those following a restricted observation (all days begin at sundown the evening before date posted):
If you would like to provide future reports, I welcome anyone to serve as witnesses to the sighting of the new moon crescent by submitting your sighting via e-mail. Together, as Yah's people, we can all be of one accord with the blowing of a trumpet to communicate to all of His people when the new moon has occurred (Numbers 10:10). We also attempt to post our own sightings and in a timely manner.
