Crescent Moon Sighting Report: | Fifth Biblical Month / July-August 2011 |
|
CURRENT MOON |
The new moon to begin the fifth month was not seen in the United States by usual sources as expected on Sunday evening, July 31st (Actual/Observed New Moon Reportings). There were reports, however, from the Islamic community of crescent sightings in South Africa, Tanzania, Namibia and Chile (see reports) which would begin the new month for the United States and other areas westward on the principle of a global trumpet call.
For followers of a fixed-Israel dateline, the start of the fifth month will begin Monday evening, August 1st (and will be a 30-day default). Click here for an alternative calculated map. For reported sightings from Israel, see Karaite Korner Report.
Next month's crescent is only expected to be seen in the far southern portion of South America on Monday evening, August 29th (see map report or view map below; alternative map). This will start the month within the United States should any sightings be reported prior to sundown. For Israel-based observers, the sixth month should not begin until Tuesday evening, August 30th (also 30th day by default).
Just two months to the Feast of Trumpets!
This year, the barley harvest reported from Israel in March was not yet ripened (Abib) in time for the new moon crescent in early March. Therefore, a 13th month was added to the year. Yah's Spring Holy Days this year are now confirmed as being on the following dates in both the US and Israel (all holy days begin at sundown the evening before):
The Fall Holy Days are expected on the following dates (visual confirmation will be required in your region at the start of the Feast of Trumpets if crescent is not yet confirmed - otherwise, all dates will be the following day; all holy days begin at sundown the evening before):
If you would like to provide future reports, I welcome anyone to serve as witnesses to the sighting of the new moon crescent by submitting your sighting via e-mail. Together, as Yah's people, we can all be of one accord with the blowing of a trumpet to communicate to all of His people when the new moon has occurred (Numbers 10:10). We also attempt to post our own sightings and in a timely manner.
