The ninth new moon crescent of the Aviv year has first reports from West Australia (at 7:21pm Perth time) followed by secondary reports from Mauritius (at 6:31pm local time - just east of Madagascar) on Monday evening, November 4th. This would place Israel, Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Turkey and points westward to begin the month based on trumpet calls. Israel-based observers, however, had only one report with the use of binoculars - all other witnesses reported cloud cover and were unable to confirm.

...The Next Expected Crescent Moon Sighting (10th Month):
The following new moon crescent will be the 10th month and is possible to be reported from South Africa with more definitive reports coming from the Americas on Tuesday evening, December 3rd. Israel should not have any local reports until Wednesday evening, December 4th.

Looking forward to 2014, the Aviv barley searches in the Fertile Crescent region will begin prior to the New Moon expected on March 1st. It is expected that Aviv barley will not be found and that a 13th month will be proclaimed. This would place the first day of the Aviv New Moon in late March (which is expected on the evening of March 31st starting in Israel). Therefore, the expected Annual Festival Dates will be as follows (all days begin at sundown the evening before date posted):
